The Ministry of Internal Affairs will tighten security measures with the start of the holiday season
Particular attention will be paid to the safety of passenger transportation. This was announced today, May 12, by First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Sergey Yarovyi during a selection meeting.
“The active holiday season is a period of increased danger, especially on the traffic-laden Ukrainian roads. All units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs should be ready to ensure safety, it is necessary to draw up schedules for the involvement of personnel, identify especially dangerous places on the roads, carry out preventive work with carriers,” he said.
The First Deputy Minister also emphasized fire prevention measures.
“We all remember the great forest fires of 2020. In order for this to happen again, I want us to give the right assessment, conduct training and be ready to react as efficiently as possible to all events,” Serhiy Yarovyi noted.
The head of the National Police Igor Klymenko said that the safety of children during the summer holidays is the priority of the National Police for the coming months.
“We have within our competence to protect children from the effects of the criminal environment, emergency situations, create adequate conditions for safe summer holidays, in particular, strengthen patrols in places of mass recreation of children, organize the safe transportation of groups of children to places of recovery, as well as during excursions. As practice shows, the main reason for the death of children on the water is the lack of proper control. Police, together with rescuers, should strengthen preventive work to prevent emergencies, do not forget about the information campaign, - he said.
Igor Klymenko also noted that preventive work on road safety has been carried out at the moment. “This allowed us to reduce the number of fatalities and injuries due to accidents by 12% on holidays. Since the beginning of the year, 785 people have died on the roads, which is 17% less than in the same period last year,” the head of the NPU said.
The commander of the National Guard Nikolay Balan stressed that special attention should be paid during the holiday season to the coast near the Joint Forces Operation and the surroundings.
The head of the State Border Guard Service Serhiy Deineko noted that from the middle of this month the State Fiscal Service expects an increase in passenger flow and departure of Ukrainians to rest mainly through air traffic checkpoints. Currently there are about 250 flights per day, an increase of 30% is predicted.
Head of the State Emergency Service Nikolai Chechotkin the fire danger period has begun, but for now the situation with fires in natural ecosystems remains under control.
“Since the beginning of the year, almost 9.5 thousand fires have been eliminated in natural ecosystems, the extinguishing of which involved about 38 thousand rescuers and more than 10 thousand units of equipment,” said Nikolai Chechotkin.
Deputy Head of Migration Service Natalia Naumenko noted that migration processes in Ukraine, including foreign citizens, are now being intensified.
“This is due to the reduction of quarantine restrictions, as well as possible criminal groups and violations by foreigners of the rules of stay. We must intensify work on controlling the migration situation in the regions, so the SMS will initiate, together with the police and other structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Operation Migrant, - she said.
