The Ministry of Internal Affairs is ready to issue passports to foreigners fighting for Ukraine's independence in Donbas, as soon as the relevant draft law is adopted — Denis Monastyrsky
Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky said that the parliament is considering a government draft law that will allow to grant citizenship to combatants - foreigners who protect the territorial integrity and independence of our state.
“To get Ukrainian citizenship, you have to leave a foreign country. Some countries block the withdrawal of their citizenship, especially those who fought in the eastern part of our country. The draft law №5630 will for the first time allow to obtain an ID card for fighters who fought or are fighting in the Donbas. This problem has existed for 8 years. This will be a big step in restoring justice to foreign citizens - participants in hostilities,” he said.
