Mykolaiv cyber police exposed residents of the region on the creation and distribution of child pornography on the Internet
Within a few months, the police officers of the anti-cybercrime department in the Nikolaev area of the Department of Cyber Police of the NPU together with the investigators exposed the involvement of five residents of Nikolaev and the region in the creation, storage and distribution of files with child pornography through piercing networks. Within the framework of open criminal proceedings, law enforcement officers conducted searches at the place of residence of the defendants and as a result of the searches seized computer equipment, flash drives, rough records, which were sent for expert research.
Under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office, two persons were informed by the investigators of suspicion of committing crimes under Art. 156 (Corruption of minors), Art. 301 (Import, manufacture, sale and distribution of pornographic objects) and 301-1 (Obtaining access to child pornography, its acquisition, storage, importation, transportation or other movement, manufacture, sale and distribution) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, according to other facts, the investigation is ongoing.
In particular, the cyber police, together with the investigators of the police department No. 7 of the Nikolaev district department of GUNP in the Nikolaev area, found and detained a 42-year-old man who had been corrupting young children for about six years. By conducting investigative and investigative measures, law enforcement officers established the facts of the creation of pornographic media content with the participation of children and the facts of storage of child pornography. Investigators informed the attacker about the suspicion under Art. 156 and Art. 301-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, subsequently the court chose him a preventive measure in the form of detention.
Also, the police stopped the illegal activity of a local resident of one of the district centers, who created content of an intimate nature with the participation of students of the local high school and distributed materials on the Internet.
It should be noted that in February of this year, the Verkhovna Rada strengthened responsibility for the production and distribution of child pornography. Responsibility for the commission of sexual violence against children has been strengthened, and the facts of intentional access to pornographic materials involving children using information and telecommunication systems and technologies have also been criminalized.
Law enforcers have received important legislative support to combat this negative phenomenon. The Criminal Code of Ukraine was supplemented by Article 301-1, which radically changed criminal liability for actions with child pornography. The sanctions of this article provide for penalties of offenders up to 6 years in prison for illegal actions with child pornography without the purpose of its sale and up to 10 years in prison if such actions are committed for the purpose of sale, and in the presence of aggravating circumstances - up to 15 years in prison.
