Mykolaiv police detectives reported on suspicion of “sleuthing” for spreading criminal influence in the correctional colony

A resident of the city of Kherson, serving sentences in a penitentiary colony for a serious crime, for almost three years, having the authority gained in places of imprisonment from convicts, promoted thieves' traditions among prisoners, coordinated their criminal activities, organized the distribution of property, and other assets.

After serving his sentence, the man has recently been released from the correctional colony.

During the investigation, the investigators of the Investigation Department of the Investigation of Particularly Serious Crimes of the Investigative Department of the GUNP in the Nikolaev area together with the employees of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the Nikolaev area DSR NPU and the operational employees of the colony collected materials confirming the involvement of the chersun in the spread of criminal influence.

On April 21, in agreement with the Nikolaev regional prosecutor's office, a 31-year-old previously convicted man was handed a notice of suspicion of intentional establishment and dissemination of criminal influence committed in the institution of execution of sentences (Part 2 of Art. 255-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The court of the Central District of the city of Nikolaev chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention without the right to make bail for a period of 60 days. For committing this criminal offense, the offender may face up to 15 years in prison.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

Recall: criminal liability for the establishment and dissemination of criminal influence in Ukraine was introduced in June last year, after the adoption by the Parliament of the relevant amendments to the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
