Nearly 200 school police officers and 700 youth police officers will hold festive and preventive events for Ukrainian schoolchildren
Creating a safe educational environment, ensuring children's rights to education, protecting their rights and social guarantees is one of the priority areas of activity of the National Police of Ukraine. Therefore, on the eve of the Knowledge Day, almost 200 school police officers in 37 cities of Ukraine and more than 700 juvenile police officers organized a large-scale preventive event called “Walking to school safely”.
This was stated by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Ekaterina Pavlichenko.
“Information and prevention campaigns play an important role in promoting a safe environment for children. The National Police of Ukraine on an ongoing basis carries out measures aimed at the safety of children in the school environment. On the eve of the new school year, police officers throughout Ukraine held events with schoolchildren and their parents in order to form safe skills in schoolchildren,” she said.
On the eve of the new school year, from August 25 to 31, patrols throughout the country held the action “Getting ready for school together”. During this period, together with public and charitable organizations and local authorities, the police collected stationery for children from families who found themselves in difficult life circumstances.
Today, law enforcement officers, within the framework of the “Take the child to school” initiative, accompanied orphans and children from large and low-income families to educational institutions.
In addition, from September 1, all schools will hold “Lesson with a police officer” events. During which patrol police and juvenile prevention officers will conduct a complex of interactive lessons, contests, workshops on the prevention of risky and illegal behavior among students on various topics.
And already from September 13, educational events “Day with a policeman and a rescuer” will start in Ukraine. When rescuers and police officers will explain to schoolchildren the rules of safe behavior and road and during emergencies and demonstrate samples of special equipment and special equipment.
It is worth noting that since September 1, 2016, the project “School Police Officer” was launched in Ukraine. These are inspectors of public relations departments who work in partnership with students, teachers, school administration, parents and other police and community bodies in order to create and maintain a healthy and safe school environment, carry out educational and preventive activities aimed specifically at preventing negative phenomena through formation in children and adolescents' knowledge, skills, and skills that promote responsible, adaptive, safe behavior.
