Anyone who passes the inspection for the absence of dangerous objects will be freely allowed to the square in front of the President's Office, - Artem Shevchenko
This was stated by the spokesman of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine today, August 14.
Today, during the planned action near the Office of the President of Ukraine, clashes between protesters and law enforcement officers took place. The police inspected the belongings of the participants, but most of them refused to show the contents of the bags, and later provoked a conflict with the use of smoke blocks and stones in the direction of law enforcement officers.
“The participants of the protests on Bankova did not want to undergo a check for the presence of dangerous objects before admission to the OPU and provoked clashes with the forces of law and order,” Artem Shevchenko said.
According to him, the police and the NGU were forced to apply police coercive measures, in particular special means.
“As a result of the clash, 7 policemen suffered eye burns and several National Guardsmen were injured. At the moment, the situation is calm. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine calls on all participants of the action to observe order and to protest peacefully,” said Artem Shevchenko.
