During a working visit to the Volyn region, the Minister of Internal Affairs Denis Monastyrsky checked the state of protection of the state border with the Republic of Belarus and the place of deployment of additional forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where the units of the State Border Guard Service, the National Guard and the National Police are located. They were overthrown and deployed in accordance with the decision of the National Security Council to strengthen border protection in the directions of potential movement of illegal migrants from neighboring Belarus.

“We are strengthening the border units with the National Police and the National Guard. In addition, about 8.5 thousand soldiers and police officers will be involved. This powerful grouping will consist of: 3 thousand soldiers of the State Police; 3,5 thousand — NGU and 2 thousand — National Police. The aviation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will also be on duty, in particular 15 helicopters, which will provide mobility and, if necessary, transfer our forces to the border,” said Denis Monastyrsky.

According to him, such actions will allow to deter illegal migrants, but for a comprehensive solution to the problem there is only one way out - the construction of a reliable modern intellectual border.

“The Ukrainian border is not adjusted, so in the shortest possible time Ukraine should erect an “intellectual border” with Russia and Belarus. To finance this project, UAH 17 billion will be needed. These funds will be allocated from the budget,” said Denis Monastyrsky.

The head of the State Border Service Sergey Deineko said that today there is no threat to Ukraine from the border with Belarus.

“The situation is stable and controlled, there are no threats to Ukraine at the moment. However, our service, together with the National Police and the National Guard, is working out all possible scenarios in order to protect the Ukrainian border from a possible attempt to break through artificially organized by crowds of migrants,” Serhiy Deyneko said.

As a reminder, Denis Monastyrsky flew to Volyn to check the readiness of protecting the Ukrainian border from the artificially created migration crisis.
