Smuggling of 8 million hryvnias was discovered by border guards in Odessa region

At the Odessa port, during the inspection of a container arriving from Singapore, law enforcement officers found a mismatch of cargo.
Today, operational staff of the Southern Regional Department of the State Border Guard Service together with representatives of the USBU in the Odessa region and Odessa customs discovered a large batch of counterfeit cigarettes that moved across the customs border Ukraine by smuggling.
Instead of the “kitchen goods” mentioned in the accompanying documents, the container contained more than 600,000 packs of cigarettes, the value of which may exceed UAH 8 million.
Urgent investigative actions are ongoing.
