The offenders broke into the premises, threatened with weapons, tied the company employee with a rope and took away two safes in which about 90,000 hryvnias were stored. Investigators are currently preparing reports of suspicion for the attackers. For their actions, they face up to fifteen years in prison with confiscation of property.
Special Line 102 received a message from the manager of the company that three unknown people through a window on the second floor penetrated the office premises on Kurenovskaya Street and took the safe with sins at gunpoint. Investigative and operational teams of the Main and District Police Departments immediately went to the call.
Kyiv Police Chief Andriy Kryshchenko said that a few hours after the crime was committed, law enforcement officers identified the assailants and subsequently detained them:
“Threatening with weapons, the attackers tied an employee of the enterprise with a rope. Next, they stole the sin safes and fled. Within a few hours, we established the identities of the defendants and detained them in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. In the course of urgent investigative actions, we searched the places of residence and in the cars of accomplices, from where we seized physical evidence, namely weapons and other tools of the crime.”
The offenders were residents of the city of Kyiv and Kyiv region, aged 36 to 48 years. Two of them had previously been prosecuted for similar crimes.
“On this fact, criminal proceedings have been initiated under part four of Article 187 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Investigators coordinate with the procedural head the notification of suspicion and prepare a petition for the election of a preventive measure for the court. The defendants face up to fifteen years in prison with confiscation of property. We also have information about the involvement of the defendants in the commission of similar crimes on the territory of Kyiv and other regions,” added Andriy Kryshchenko.
