Kirovograd region: Police detained a man when handing over “ransom” to a police officer
In order not to get behind bars for illegal logging of the forest and to continue his illegal “business” unhindered, the man offered a bribe to the Kirovograd police official. On the transfer of the first part of the money, he was detained by law enforcement officers.
The chief of one of the district police departments of the Kirovohrad department of the NPU addressed the operatives of the Kirovograd department and reported the intentions of the local resident to provide him with an illegal benefit.
A 41-year-old man who was engaged in illegal logging offered a bribe to the police officer 20,000 hryvnias. “Revenge” - for avoiding criminal liability, returning a seized truck with wood and continuing illegal activities.
According to the internal security materials of the NPU, the investigators of the GUNP in the Kirovograd region, under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office, initiated criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Art. 369 (Offer, promise or provision of unlawful benefits to an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Law enforcement officers detained the briber in the office of a police officer during the transfer of 10,000 hryvnias — part of the promised amount. The money is withdrawn.
At the moment, the defendant has been detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. For the provision of unlawful benefits to an official, a man is being prepared to serve a suspicion, he may face up to eight years in prison.
