The number of weapons detentions at the border with Belarus has decreased
Ukrainian border guards detained 27 weapons at the border with Belarus in six months, while not a single firearm.
In particular, since the beginning of the year on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border, the soldiers of the State Border Guard Service have stopped attempts to illegally transport 27 weapons across the border, of which: 12 units of hunting, 13 - cold and one each - gas and pneumatic. It is worth noting that during the same period last year, 6 more weapons were detained on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border.
It is also worth noting that according to the data available from the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the corresponding indicators of the Belarusian side on the adjacent border section are even lower. Thus, the Administration of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the State Border Committee of Belarus carry out monthly exchange of anonymized statistical information on the results of operational and service activities. According to the data provided by the Belarusian side, for 5 months of this year in total, they detained only 4 units of weapons and 10 ammunition at the border with Ukraine, all at checkpoints. And during the preparation of joint reports at the end of 2020, border guards of Belarus noted a decrease in the reporting period of 6.9 times in the number of weapons detected on the border with our country.
Therefore, all statements of Belarusian politicians about arms smuggling flows from Ukraine are groundless. On the contrary, since August last year, Ukrainian border guards on the border with Belarus have been serving in a strengthened regime, which has contributed to the reduction of illegal activities in this area.
