Cyber police have exposed a criminal group in the online trade of counterfeit food
The figures in the underground workshops made olive oil, wine, jamon, pistachios, candy, tea and coffee. Then the product was marked with labels of famous brands and sold under the guise of original products.
Employees of the Cyber Police Department, together with the Main Investigation Department of the National Police, have exposed 18 people in the illegal manufacture of counterfeit food products.
Offenders located production workshops and warehouses in Kyiv, Lviv, Khmelnytskyi and Kyiv regions. In the indicated premises, those involved made and stored olive oil, wine, jamon, pistachios, candy, tea, coffee and other food products. The goods were packaged in packages with the names and logos of famous world manufacturers.
Further, under the guise of original products, they were sold in online stores, on ad sites and in large wholesale markets throughout Ukraine. In addition, the facts of the sale of counterfeit to neighboring countries have been established. Currently, law enforcers establish the damage caused to rights holders.
Law enforcement officers conducted 44 searches in production shops, warehouses, offices, cars and places of residence of the defendants. As a result, production equipment for the production of olive oil, pistachios and wine, containers for bottling products, about 60 tons of raw materials and 160 tons of counterfeit finished products were seized. Printing with logos of brands, devices for packaging tea and coffee, mobile phones, computer equipment, printers, “rough” records, vehicles and 4.5 million hryvnias were also removed. The seized property of the defendants was arrested by the court.
According to this fact, criminal proceedings were opened under Part 3 of Art. 229 (Illegal use of a mark for goods and services, brand name, qualified indication of the origin of goods) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Investigative actions continue.
