Cyberpolice exposed members of organized group in Internet fraud
Three attackers, while in custody, deceived citizens for the sale of non-existent goods. The defendants were declared a suspect.
The organized group of attackers was exposed by employees of the Lviv region cyber police together with investigators of the regional police department.
The fraudulent scheme was organized by three attackers aged 21-28 years. Men, serving sentences in places of imprisonment, posted ads on social networks about the sale of non-existent agricultural products. Buyers were offered free delivery of orders, however, having received money, they blocked customers. The total amount of losses reaches 100 thousand hryvnias.
The police, together with the employees of the state institution of execution of sentences, conducted a search at the place of serving the sentences of the defendants. Mobile phones and tablets used in illegal activities have been seized.
The attackers were notified of suspicion under Part 4 of Art. 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for up to twelve years in prison. Procedural management is carried out by the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
