Cyberpolice exposed three residents of the capital in the Internet trade in counterfeit equipment
The defendants created about 10 online stores where they sold counterfeit equipment of famous world brands. In this way, they searched more than 200 citizens.
The illegal activity was exposed by the Kyiv Cyberpolice together with the employees of the capital's head under the procedural guidance of the Goloseev District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv. Three residents of the capital, aged 26-27, are involved in the criminal activity.
The men created about 10 online stores. On websites, advertisements were placed about the sale of products of famous brands, passing it off as the original. Mobile phones, headphones, tablets, chargers, hair dryers and other products were offered for purchase.
Counterfeit products and boxes were ordered by attackers from China. With the help of special equipment, copies of stickers with identification numbers of original products were made. When checking through the web resources of manufacturers, the presence of these serial numbers in the databases of companies was displayed. Then they sold the products as original.
According to preliminary data, more than 200 citizens suffered from the actions of intruders. The amount of damage caused to the victims is established.
Law enforcement officers conducted searches at the place of residence of the defendants, as well as in office and warehouse premises. According to the results, packed postal parcels, laptops, tablets, a printer for checks, more than a hundred mobile phones and two thousand boxes to them, half a thousand headphones, cables for charging, cases for mobile phones, hair dryers, bank cards, IMEI printing machines, a machine for manufacturing were seized. engraving inscription on products and more than 2 million hryvnias.
The special purpose police regiment of the Kiev police was involved in the search.
On this fact, criminal proceedings were opened under Part 3 of Art. 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years. The issue of notifying defendants of suspicion is being resolved. Investigative actions continue.
