Cyberpolice of Kharkiv region exposed a group of persons in the sale of alcoholic beverages with counterfeit stamps of excise tax of Ukraine
Attackers through the Internet sold alcoholic beverages, including elite ones, without excise tax stamps and with excise tax stamps with signs of counterfeiting. More than 1,000 bottles of alcoholic beverages and cash in the amount of 1.6 million UAH received from the illegal sale of excisable goods were seized from the defendants.
The illegal activity of the group of persons was stopped by the officers of the Cyber Crime Control Department in the Kharkiv region together with the investigators of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region.
It was established that 5 men illegally sold alcoholic beverages during 2021 with obvious signs of counterfeiting stamps of excise tax of Ukraine. The attackers distributed the products through created sites on the Internet and in the store. The defendants traded elite alcohol without excise stamps and with excise duty stamps with signs of counterfeiting.
Police officers conducted searches in the homes of the defendants, retail outlets and a warehouse. Computer equipment, more than 1,000 bottles of alcoholic beverages and cash in the amount of 1.6 million UAH received from illegal sale of excisable goods were seized. Employees of the special purpose regiment of the Kharkiv police were also involved in the searches.
Investigative operational actions were carried out within the framework of criminal proceedings opened under Part 2 of Art. 199 (manufacture, storage, acquisition, transportation, shipment, import into Ukraine for use in the sale of goods, sale, as well as sale of illegally manufactured, obtained or counterfeit excise tax stamps, gold graphic protective elements, counterfeit national currency of Ukraine in the form of banknotes or metal coins, foreign currency, state securities or state lottery tickets, in large size) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a period of 5 to 10 years with confiscation of property.
