Cyberpolice stopped the illegal distribution of personal data of about 200 million people
Law enforcement officers stopped the work of one of the largest web resources, where they illegally distributed personal data of citizens of Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus, Kazakhstan and other CIS countries.
Employees of the Department of Cyberpolice, together with the investigators of the Darnytsky Department of the Kyiv Police and in cooperation with representatives of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Human Rights and international partners from the USA, Moldova and Germany, stopped the facts of violation of the protection of personal data using automated systems and the Internet. Preventive measures were aimed at detection the identification of individuals and criminal groups engaged in the illegal receipt and distribution of personal data of citizens, databases, as well as
establishment of enterprises, institutions and organizations that may be involved in violation of the legislation of Ukraine in the sphere of personal data circulation.
As a result of joint actions, one of the largest web resources, where personal data of about 200 million people were illegally distributed, including citizens of Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus, Kazakhstan and other CIS countries, was localized and stopped. The website contained information on the phone number, surname, name and patronymic of citizens, their place of registration, and in some cases also information about the provided administrative services related to the use of vehicles.
According to this fact, criminal proceedings were opened under Art. 182 (Violation of privacy) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation is currently ongoing. Procedural management is carried out by the Darnytsky District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv.
