The meeting of the main border guards of Ukraine and Romania took place at the Porubne-Siret checkpoint. The head of the State Border Service of Ukraine Serhiy Deineko and General Inspector of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police of Romania Liviu Bute analyzed the situation at the common border section.

First of all, they discussed the issue of further interaction to respond effectively to current challenges and threats. In particular, it was about combating the illegal movement of goods, primarily tobacco products, and intensifying the use of small aircraft and drones by illegal elements.

The parties agreed to continue to exchange information on each detected incident of violation and to ensure an appropriate response by organizing internal interaction with the bodies and units responsible for air defense, public and public security.

They also discussed in detail the practice of using joint patrolling, which was suspended due to quarantine restrictions. It was possible to restore it on the Ukrainian-Romanian border by mutual agreement this year, from March - on the Danube, and from July - on the land plot. At the beginning of October, Ukrainian and Romanian border guards together went on patrol almost seventy times.
