For the money, the official through an intermediary promised the owner of the gas station not to impose penalties due to the violations found.
The operatives of the department of strategic investigations in the Nikolaev area exposed the criminal activity of the head of one of the departments of the State Environmental Inspectorate of the South-Western District. With law enforcement colleagues, they established that to cover up the wrongdoing, the official involved an intermediary. The defendants demanded $5,000 from the owner of the gas station.
The first part of the illegal profit — $1,000 — was received by the attackers at the end of July. Another $4,000 was received yesterday, August 17. Immediately after the transfer of money, the men were detained in Odessa in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The subject of illegal profit was seized on the spot. Currently, the pre-trial investigation is ongoing — it is carried out by the investigators
of the SBI Tertiary Department, located in the city. Nikolaev, under the procedural leadership of the regional prosecutor's office.
The issue of notifying detainees of suspicions under Part 3 of Art. 368 (acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an illegal benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is resolved.
