The Ministry of Internal Affairs honored the victims of the plane crash in the sky over Tehran
Today, January 8, the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs honored the dead passengers and crew members of the UIA plane shot down in 2020 in Iran. Attendees laid flowers at the memorial and honored the memory with a minute of silence. The day before, 176 trees were planted around the memorial stone, the same number of people killed in this plane crash.
“We have always told the Iranians that justice is not sold. It's not about money, it's about everyone who committed this serious crime having to answer for it. And the relatives and the whole Ukrainian people should receive justice,” said First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Yevhenii Yenin.
He assured those present that no matter how much effort and time it cost the government of Ukraine and international partners, they will be the only front to fight for justice.
January 8, 2022 marks two years after the aircraft of Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) was shot down in the sky over Iran. He operated flight PS752 on the route Tehran - Kiev. On board were citizens of six countries - Iran, Canada, Ukraine, Sweden, Afghanistan and the United Kingdom. All 176 people were killed, including 11 Ukrainians (9 crew members and 2 passengers).
Iranian authorities on January 11, after several days of objections, admitted that the Ukrainian plane was mistakenly shot down by an anti-aircraft missile system of air defense.
