This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs during the III All-Ukrainian Forum of Lawyers “Words are important for rights and law”.

According to Kateryna Pavlichenko, the Ministry of Internal Affairs applies a comprehensive approach to gender equality, in particular it conducts a gender audit in the Central Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in order to ensure proper conditions for the performance of official duties and to ensure equal opportunities for serving in law enforcement agencies, both for men and women. Much attention is also paid to communication in the field of gender equality. The actions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are aimed at ensuring that police, firefighters, border guards, migrants and national guards realize the true value and meaning of gender equality, develop sensitivity to human rights violations and free themselves from stereotypes.

“Any communication should respect each person, emphasize their value. If we talk about the security sector, it is on communication with society that trust in law enforcement, the confidence of the population in a fair approach to everyone and everyone depends,” the Deputy Minister noted.

The Deputy Minister also spoke about the important role of the Ukrainian Association of Law Enforcement Representatives in the implementation of gender policy in law enforcement agencies, the involvement of women in the security sector and the promotion of ideas of gender equality by creating a favorable environment for the exchange of experiences and overcoming stereotypes on the path to career growth.

“The activity of UAPPO is aimed at forming and establishing the image of a woman law enforcement officer as a leader, professional, and specialist in her field,” said Kateryna Pavlichenko.
