This was emphasized by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs during a meeting with representatives of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and religious organizations on the awareness of the population on the issues of combating human trafficking.

According to Kateryna Pavlichenko, in the 21st century, people continue to suffer from recruitment for the purpose of engaging in prostitution and other forms of sexual exploitation, and in criminal activities related to drug crime, illegal transportation of migrants and the use of citizens for forced labor and extortion Deficiency. That is why cooperation with representatives of the clergy is very important.

“The church is the place where people come to find the strength to deal with problems in life. The Church is sometimes the first institution to which victims of trafficking turn, and can become a “link” between those affected and state bodies authorized to help victims and bring those responsible to justice,” the deputy minister noted.

Ekaterina Pavlichenko called for the consolidation of the efforts of the state and the clergy through interaction. It is about training representatives of the Council of Churches and religious organizations in order to identify victims of trafficking and their subsequent redirection to provide necessary assistance to state bodies or public associations; carrying out outreach work among parishioners, as well as the development and distribution of printed products on trafficking in human beings, which is not contrary to the traditions, canons and orders of religious organizations, and the joint holding of educational activities to combat trafficking in human beings.

“We can and must do everything possible to get a person out of slavery, and it is also very important that the person affected receives everything necessary for the restoration of violated rights and rehabilitation,” the deputy minister added.
