During four days, Vinnytsia police officers held courses on combating domestic violence organized by the Canadian Police Mission in Ukraine CPMU within the framework of the Canadian-Ukrainian Police Development Project.

Such an event was held in order to increase the level of readiness of police officers to perform professional tasks and duties to combat domestic violence, as well as to improve practical skills to prevent such offenses.

The police worked out the basic algorithms for responding to cases of domestic violence, the peculiarities of communication with the offender and his victim, as well as the provision of legal and psychological assistance.

The deputy chief of the regional police chief Igor Volokitenko stressed that the topic of domestic violence is quite relevant, and holding such meetings allows police officers to share personal experience and work out an algorithm of actions when receiving notifications on the termination of domestic violence.

According to the adviser on training of police officers Janelle Bird, Canadian police officers have been cooperating with the National Police of Ukraine for a long time, jointly identifying problematic issues that need to be paid attention to during training.

In addition to police officers, representatives of social services and organizations that provide assistance to victims of domestic abusers took part in the trainings.
