Foreign IT-specialists will simplify the procedure for granting immigration permits
The Government sent the draft law “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Immigration” for consideration by the Parliament. The draft law provides for the improvement of the mechanisms for granting immigration permits, in particular, simplifying the procedure for granting immigration permits to foreign highly qualified IT specialists. First of all, the period for consideration of applications for granting an immigration permit is reduced from one year to 6 months.
The legislative initiative improves the procedures for refusing to grant immigration permits, revoking immigration permits and permanent residence permits. It also provides:
- strengthening measures to combat illegal migration in relation to persons who have been denied or revoked an immigration permit; - obtaining biometric data of applicants when submitting documents; - improvement of the quota principle for granting an immigration permit;
- introduction of a new basis for granting an immigration permit for persons who have lived in the territory for more than 5 years;
- ensuring the legislative regulation of the issue of refusal to grant an immigration permit to persons intending to legalize in the territory
Ukraine on the basis of sham marriages.

The draft Law of Ukraine “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Immigration” was developed by the State Migration Service of Ukraine together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine to fulfill the mandate of the Prime Minister of Ukraine and the Decree of the President of Ukraine “On Measures to Create Favorable Conditions for the Development of the IT Industry in Ukraine”.
