A citizen of Russia who removed the State Flag of Ukraine from a building in the city. Vinnytsia, threatened with criminal liability
In the morning, November 6, the police received a report that from the building of the shopping center on 600th Anniversary Street in the city. In Vinnytsia, an unknown man took down the State Flag of Ukraine. This was seen by mall guards, so the intruder began to flee, throwing a rope into the bush. The detainee was later taken to the police department. Criminal proceedings have been initiated.
According to the head of the Vinnytsia district police department Vitaly Kurchik, the 35-year-old attacker, who turned out to be a citizen of Russia, was intoxicated. It is preliminarily established that around five in the morning, being near the shopping center with acquaintances, he climbed onto the building and removed the flag from the flagpole, which he later threw as he ran away from the guards. The attacker explained that he came to Vinnytsia region to visit relatives, and he committed such actions because of a dispute with a friend.
On this fact, the investigation initiated criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 296 Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism). Within the framework of the investigation, all the circumstances of the incident are established. Such an offense is punishable by a fine of one thousand to two thousand non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens or arrest for up to six months, or restriction of liberty for up to five years.
