Visitors to entertainment establishments were robbed under the guise of taxi drivers — in Odessa the police detained a group of “tourers”
The criminal group was organized by a 27-year-old man. Together with three previously convicted citizens, they committed robberies and robberies on the territory of Odessa. “Worked” under the guise of taxi drivers at night and in the morning. Detained intruders immediately after committing another crime.
According to law enforcement officials, the organizer and members of the group aged from 25 to 28 years old are residents of other regions. They “specialized” in robberies and robbery attacks, were repeatedly convicted of property crimes, and met in places serving sentences.
The victims were chosen from among the visitors of Odessa entertainment establishments, mainly in the city center. They acted according to the following scenario: after the potential victim got into the car, the attackers offered to continue drinking alcohol and drive through the night city. As soon as citizens lost vigilance, gang members took their property: mobile phones, gold jewelry, bank cards, etc. Sometimes the attackers used force. After the crime was committed, they fled the scene of the crime in a car with foreign registration.
The defendants sold the acquired “treasures” to the pawnshop through acquaintance with an employee of the institution. With access to the phones of the victims, the attackers unlocked the credit cards of the victims and withdrew the cash without hindrance.
The organized criminal group was exposed by the operatives of the Directorate of Strategic Investigations in the Odessa region and the investigators of the Investigative Department of the Regional Police. Today, May 14, with the strong support of KORD and the participation of patrol police officers, three defendants were detained after another crime. They used weapons against the Odessa resident, who came out of the entertainment establishment. Three attackers were detained under the order of Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigative and operational measures continue. Searches are carried out at the places of residence and in the cars of the members of the group. Measures are being taken to detain and bring all members of the group to justice. Procedural guidance in criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Art.
186 (robbery) and Part 2 of Art. 187 (robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is carried out by the Odessa Regional Prosecutor's Office.
Under the current legislation, the penalty is provided for - imprisonment for a period of seven to ten years with confiscation of property.
