Head of European Diplomacy Josep Borrel and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba visited the checkpoint “Stanytsia Luhanska”
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine is a transparent organization that is open for interaction and dialogue with the community, the expert community, as well as with all interested parties. Today, the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrel and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba visited the entry and exit checkpoint “Stanytsia Luhanska” as part of a working trip.
For a senior EU official, this was the first trip to the Luhansk region since the beginning of the Russian aggression against Ukraine. The most urgent issue of the visit is the procedure for conducting control and inspection activities through the demarcation line. The distinguished guest was interested in exactly how persons and their belongings are allowed into the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine and whether problematic issues arise during the crossing.
“The checkpoint “Stanytsya Luhanska” is the only point in the region where control is carried out regarding the movement of persons and things to the temporarily occupied territory and in the opposite direction. Thanks to the modern introscopes that we use during control operations, we manage to increase the safety and speed of crossing the demarcation line. Despite the New Year and Christmas holidays, the checkpoint “Stanytsya Luhanska” works daily from 8:00 to 16:00,” said Colonel Yuriy Petrov, the head of the Luhansk border detachment.
At the end of the meeting, the distinguished guests were thanked for the warm welcome and for the answers to important questions received.
Recall that from December 30, 2021, the requirement for self-isolation for persons entering the controlled territory of Ukraine through checkpoints from the temporarily occupied territories was canceled. That is, when crossing the checkpoint on the demarcation line towards the controlled territory of Ukraine, travelers do not need to undergo mandatory self-isolation and install the mobile application “At Home”.
