A driver training system close to European practice will work in Ukraine - Bohdan Drapyaty
This was announced today, October 8, by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Bogdan Drapyaty.
“Harmonization and adaptation of Ukrainian legislation with EU law is one of the fundamental priorities of the work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs team. Implementation of the foreign policy strategic course of Ukraine defined in the Constitution of Ukraine for EU membership requires uniform standards,” the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs informed.
On October 6, 2021, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution “On Amendments to the Standard Training Program for Training and Retraining of Vehicle Drivers”. The changes will enter into force six months after the official publication of the resolution.
“This is one of the important steps towards bringing the driver training system closer to European practice and in general in the field of allowing citizens to drive vehicles,” said Bohdan Drapyaty.
The resolution defines the minimum number of training hours for training, but at the same time educational institutions are not limited in the possibility of introducing additional classes into their programs. Optimized total driver training time for all categories. In particular, under category “B” the theoretical training time was reduced from 100 to 63 hours, the practical training time was not changed - 40 hours.
Topics on theoretical and practical training, retraining of drivers have also been updated. Added an important and independent educational section “Medical support (accident assistance measures)”, updated content of thematic programs and introduced topics related to the power supply of vehicles using electric energy.
“Future drivers will first pass the entire theory course in the driving school, pass the exam, and only after successfully passing it will be able to start practicing,” Bohdan Drapyaty noted.
