Experts from the USA conducted training for border guards on countering improvised explosive devices
On the basis of the Training Center for Countering the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction, the second basic stage of training of personnel of the State Border Guard Service for countering improvised explosive devices takes place. The first stage took place in July 2021. For participants of the exercises who arrived from different parts of Ukraine, classes are conducted by international experts from the United States of America. The training was organized with the support of the Export Control and Border Security Program of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine.
Participants of the training consider issues related to the impact factors during an explosion, their structure, the main explosives used to create them, the order of assessment of threats when detecting these devices, methods for investigating probable sites of installation, and identification of vulnerable areas. They also devote a lot of time to practical exercises on finding explosive devices in vehicles using a variety of technical means and devices.
This training is the second in a series of relevant training activities. In the future, other exercises are planned, which will be devoted to training on the search for improvised explosive devices in combination with hazardous chemical and radioactive substances.
