Despite numerous warnings, every day of the Rescue Service does not pass without going to the rescue of people who decided to check the strength of the first winter ice. And it's good when it's a timely call for salvation, and not a search... So, only since the beginning of December 31 people have drowned in the water bodies of the country, three of whom are children.

So, as long as Ukrainians perceive the barely frozen reservoirs as a skating rink, and not a potential source of danger, rescuers will again and again search for and retrieve drowned people.

Fortunately, today's event in Kiev ended in a rescue. So, on December 24 at 15:23 to the Operational Coordination Center of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the city. Kiev received a message on the line “102" that a person is drowning on Lake Telbin. Immediately to the scene, rescuers of the 16th State Fire and Rescue Department were sent. Arriving, the fighters with the help of a wetsuit proceeded to rescue a woman who had fallen under the ice while skating. The woman was taken to shore and transferred to assist the ambulance crew. However, this does not always happen.

The terrible event occurred on the evening of December 23 at a pond in the village. Razdolnoe of Kakhovsky district of Kherson region. There at 18:20 from law enforcement officers to the State Emergency Service received information about the disappearance of two children, who probably fell under thin ice. The DPRCH-4 department consisting of 4 people and 2 units of equipment was sent to search for the missing, and the diving department of the Kakhovsky Main Canal Department was involved in the composition. Already at 21:20 at a distance of 7 m from the shore, from a depth of 1.5 m, the employees of the State Emergency Service lifted the body of one of the boys, and at 22:50 divers found the body of the second boy.

Rescuers warn! Sharp frosts do not guarantee a safe rest in a crisis! The fact that the pond looks frozen does not mean that the thickness of the ice is enough to withstand at least a child!

Therefore, in order to prevent the increase in the number of accidents in water bodies in winter, rescuers are strengthening preventive work among the population.

Dear citizens, take note of some tips for behavior near and on water bodies when the ice is still too thin. Keep the following in mind:

- you can go out on the ice only in stable frosty weather;
- it is forbidden to go out on ice, the thickness and strength of which are unknown to you; - you need to cross reservoirs in specially designated and equipped places for this;
- it is forbidden to ski from a steep bank to untested for strength and thickness of ice; - it is forbidden to gather in a crisis in large groups in one place;
- you can not go out on the ice: at the junction of rivers; in the case of a fast river flow in this place;
in the presence of boards, sticks frozen in the ice
and other objects; in case of different colors of ice; during severe temperature drops and warming;
- do not drink alcohol near water bodies; - watch for children's leisure and explain to them the danger of thin ice.

If an extraordinary event happened to you, or you witnessed one, do not delay, call the Rescue Service on 101!
