The State Emergency Service recalls the rules for safe heating of dwellings and warns of tragic consequences in case of non-compliance with fire safety rules in everyday life
In winter, unfortunately, the death rate of people in fires in the housing sector increases markedly, as well as deaths due to poisoning by combustion products from home heating devices. Usually, citizens themselves can prevent tragic cases by observing elementary rules of fire safety in everyday life, but for the most part they do not pay enough attention to this issue. As a result, people die in whole families.
In particular, in the Odessa region, previously due to poisoning by combustion products from a fuel generator, in a private residential building in the village. Paliivka, Odessa district, five people died, including three children: 2 girls aged 3-4 years and a boy aged 9 years. The units of the State Emergency Service were not involved in the event.
At the same time, last day in Sumy region, three fires in the residential sector of the region claimed the lives of three citizens. Cases of death of people were recorded in the s. Rudka, in the village. Bilykivka and in the village. Spring.
In Ternopil region on January 4, in the village. Podillia of Tovsten territorial community of Chortkiv district, a fire broke out in a one-story private residential building, as a result of which 2 people died. The probable cause of the tragedy is carelessness during smoking.
In total, during the day of January 4, the fire took the lives of seven people, and since the beginning of the new year, 2022, fires in Ukraine have taken the lives of 43 citizens.
Therefore, rescuers urge citizens to follow the rules of fire safety in everyday life, in particular:
- the condition of the heating source must be taken care of before the beginning of the heating season: it is necessary to clean the chimneys and stoves from soot in time, check the furnace for cracks, etc.; - during the heating season, monitor and do not leave the stove unattended and it is strictly forbidden to leave children alone at home with the stove on;
- cleaning of soot and various dirt of heating furnaces of periodic action on solid and liquid fuels must be carried out at least once every three months; - at each furnace, in front of the furnace opening on the combustible floor, it should be
nail a metal sheet with a size of at least 0.5 x 0.7 m;
- furnaces and other heating devices must have fireproof partitions (indentations) from combustible structures; - do not use uncertified and homemade heating devices for heating rooms;
- do not place heating devices directly under the outlet, and also on the ways of evacuation of people; - do not turn on many electrical appliances at the same time in the extension cord, because the power grid may not withstand overload;
- do not leave young children without
supervision, and do not allow them to play with matches, lighters, etc.;
- do not use electric heaters for drying clothes and other materials; - do not leave electric heating devices on when leaving the house; - do not smoke in bed.
Remember! Only the observance of the elementary rules of fire and own safety will be able to save your life and property from fire!
