DPSU: To Hungary — without restrictions
Pay attention! Since August 7, 2021, citizens of Ukraine can cross the Ukrainian-Hungarian border without restrictions imposed due to the spread of coronavirus. For the entry of citizens to Hungary, there are still requirements defined by the Schengen Borders Code (biometric passport/visa, medical insurance valid in Europe, financial support).
An exception is the entry into Hungary by air, in particular, a negative test result for COVID-19 by polymerase chain reaction, obtained no later than 72 hours at the time of entry, or a Ukrainian or Hungarian vaccination certificate is additionally required (together with citizens who have a certificate, can also without restrictions children under the age of 18 enter).
For transit through the country, representatives of the Hungarian border police may additionally request documents confirming the right to enter the country of destination (depending on the requirements of the specific country: residence permit, work visa, hotel reservation, virus test results, etc.).
Regarding the peculiarities of stay in Hungary, it should be remembered that the Hungarian competent authorities, in accordance with the current legislation, impose administrative fines on foreigners, including citizens of Ukraine, who have exceeded the allowed period of stay in the countries of the Schengen zone before the introduction of quarantine measures by these countries (fine from 5 up to 50 thousand forints/15-150 dollars THE UNITED STATES).
If the period of stay in Schengen countries has expired after the introduction of quarantine measures by those countries, in order to avoid a fine, citizens crossing the Hungarian border must document to the Hungarian competent authorities that they were quarantined or that documents for the extension of the permit period were submitted before the relevant authority, etc. (must be a document of the official body). At the same time, each individual case is subject to a thorough check and is considered individually.
