By the end of 2021, 6,000 body cameras will be purchased for patrol police officers - Denis Monastyrsky
This was announced today, September 6, by the Minister of Internal Affairs during the presentation of the priority directions and projects of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Denis Monastyrsky noted that breast cameras are an important issue of trust in the police. On the one hand, they discipline police officers when communicating with the public, and on the other hand, they protect the patrolman from defamation and unfounded accusations.
“When I took office, I canceled one of the bids for 170 million hryvnias for the purchase of electric shock absorbers, and directed the bulk of these funds to the purchase of body cameras for police officers. This is exactly what should increase trust,” the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.
The minister stressed that the camera turned off is a violation on the part of the police.
“When stopping a citizen, a police officer must have a camera turned on. If it is excluded, the police officer violates the law. Already this year it is planned to purchase 6 thousand body cameras. We have to provide them with all the patrol police,” said Denis Monastyrsky.
Recall, the Ministry of Internal Affairs initiates the purchase of electric vehicles for the patrol police.
