Our goal is to have two thousand community police officers by the end of next year. This was stated by the Minister of the Interior today, September 14, during the transfer of 86 vehicles for law enforcement officers who will work in the newly formed amalgamated territorial communities.

“Police officers who work in the field can return a sense of security to an ordinary citizen in a village, village, city. This project has to live. I thank the international partners for the transfer of cars and representatives of local communities who take care of their residents,” the Minister of Interior said.

Denis Monastyrsky said that the project “Community Police Officer” is one of the most successful, and citizens' trust in the POGs is the highest among all representatives of the police profession.

The head of the National Police Igor Klymenko said that currently 632 community officers are serving.

“Currently, we serve six million citizens living in more than four thousand settlements, and in total in Ukraine there are almost 30 thousand of them. Our main goal is to respond to calls and messages on time, and this is possible when the police officer has a car. All cars are well equipped, from the first aid kit to the chainsaw, because no one knows what kind of help will need to be provided,” said Igor Klymenko.

He added that every police officer who soon arrives in the community should be provided with a workplace, a car and housing.

“The policeman lives and works in the community, so the cooperation of local authorities, communities and the police is very important. I call on all leaders who are present here and who only plan to sign contracts with the National Police, to work as a single team,” the police chief said.

Igor Klymenko also announced the start of a new stage - in every school there should be a police presence.

“Community officers, along with juvenile police officers, will be present at the school. They should know how many children live in the territory of the AHs, how many educational institutions, and have full contact with the teaching staff,” he said.

According to the deputy head of the National Police Oleksandr Fatsevich, today 130 more law enforcement officers are being trained, who will soon go to work in the united territorial communities.

“The issue of interaction remains important, many communities came to our meeting and bought cars for police officers who will work on the ground. In addition, at the expense of local budgets, the maintenance of equipment will be carried out,” Oleksandr Fatsevich said.

In turn, the head of the law enforcement department of the US Embassy in Ukraine Sarah Langenkamp thanked the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Police and the heads of the AHs for cooperation and development of the project.

Zhytomyr Mayor Sergey Sukhomlin said that it is important for every resident of the community to feel safe. “We have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the National Police. For their part, they bought cars, equipped stations, made repairs. The police conducted training and already today police officers work in the community of the city of Zhytomyr. The next step is to expand the project. It should cover not only the private sector, but also other areas of the city,” he said.

The keys to Renault Duster service cars and pump rifles were received by police officers and heads of united territorial communities from nine regions, namely Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Zakarpattia, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Luhansk, Donetsk, Odessa and Dnipropetrovsk.
