Denis Monastyrsky held a meeting with the heads of units of the patrol police of Ukraine
Today, September 24, Minister of Internal Affairs Denis Monastyrsky held a meeting with the leadership of the Department of Patrol Police from all over Ukraine.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the problematic issues that arise in the units in the regions.
“You and the team you represent are the faces that citizens see. Today I would like to talk about improving the patrol police. I am a proponent of dialogue. Therefore, I want to listen to your comments about the shortcomings of the service,” said Denis Monastyrsky.
The Minister of the Interior and the heads of patrol police units discussed the possibility of increasing salaries for ordinary personnel, as well as the need to update and increase the number of patrol cars and chest video recorders equipped with police uniforms.
“Already, we are working to increase patrolmen's salaries, given the level of stress, risks to life and health, the burden that police officers face every day. My goal is to create new working conditions for police officers in Ukraine. Starting from paying for their labor, ending with how and where they work. Everything related to the work of a police officer should inspire trust and respect. Thank you for your service, officers!” he said.
The head of the National Police Igor Klymenko stressed that the patrol police in the cities has more than 50% support.
“We deal with accidents and deaths every day. Every day we stop violators of traffic rules. Our work is often criticized precisely because we do not allow people who are drunk to get behind the wheel or violate other rules and laws. But we have to keep that trust. Few young people now agree to work as crazy a schedule as yours — 24/7. But you still have to arrive on time for the challenges. It is not important either in the capital or in the regions,” Igor Klymenko stressed.
Representatives of the patrol police from the regions thanked the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police for the meeting, shared their thoughts and problematic issues.
