Today, September 7, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine met with the Interim US Attorney in Ukraine Christina Quinn, expressed gratitude to the US Government and the US Embassy in Ukraine for their support aimed at developing the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, its reform and strengthening.
The Parties noted the high efficiency of cooperation in the framework of international technical assistance projects, due to the implementation of which, over the past 6 years, qualitative support has been provided to structural changes in the National Police, National Guard, State Border Service and State Emergency Service.
Currently, 19 international technical assistance projects are being implemented in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the support of the US Government, with a total budget of more than $300 million. THE UNITED STATES.
Denis Monastyrsky emphasized the scaling up of the “Community Police Officer” project throughout Ukraine and expressed hope for increased support from the American side.
“The Institute of the Community Police Officer has proven its effectiveness and has significantly improved the perception of the National Police of Ukraine by the society. As of September 2021, 368 communities participate in the project, with 632 community police officers working,” the minister said.
In addition, the parties discussed the implementation of new joint large-scale projects, taking into account the Memorandum of Understanding signed during the visit of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to the United States of America on August 30, 2021 in Washington on the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and the Export-Import Bank of the United States of America Kiki. In particular, the modernization of the meteorological service of the State Emergency Service in cooperation with the American company Baron “Critical Weather Intelligence”.
The implementation of this project will allow to radically reform the hydrometeorological system of the state, which has not been updated since the 70s of the last century.
Involvement of the American side in the implementation of the project to strengthen border security, in particular the creation of an intelligent border protection system with the Russian Federation and Belarus, including in the context of current migration threats.
Implementation, together with the American company Motorolla, of a national project to deploy a single multi-zone digital radio communication system for the structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other services responsible for the security component (police, military, rescuers, medics, etc.) and will contribute to the proper coordination of the relevant forces and means, as well as allow to protect information that will be transmitted.
