Denis Monastyrsky held a meeting with German Ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen

Today, August 31, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen.

The parties discussed further development of Ukrainian-German cooperation in the spheres of activity of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“Today, the Ministry of Internal Affairs faces many ambitious tasks related to the development of such areas as: creation of effective sanitary aviation in Ukraine, in particular, on the basis of already purchased helicopters of German-French production “Airbus”, cooperation in the field of cybersecurity, civil protection of the population and implementation of socially oriented projects” - noted the minister.

Denis Monastyrsky informed the Ambassador about the interest of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the active development of the voluntary fire movement in Ukraine.

“No developed country works exclusively at the expense of state fire services. The experience of colleagues from Germany, where more than a million volunteer firefighters are involved, demonstrates its effectiveness. We are interested in borrowing German experience in creating an effective model of voluntary/voluntary fire movement,” said the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The parties expressed hope that the project aimed at the creation and development of volunteer firefighter wives in territorial communities could be supported by the German Society for International Cooperation (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH), which has long been working in Ukraine on behalf of the Federal the German government and interacts quite closely with the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

In particular, within the framework of the successful implementation from GIZ of the project “Support of Ukraine in Emergency Management”, which lasted from 2015 to 2019, the capacity of the SNS and civil society in emergency management was significantly improved, the level of qualification of the personnel of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine was increased and support was provided to the population in the crisis regions of origin.

During the meeting, cooperation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine with the State Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Free Land of Bavaria within the framework of the Permanent Ukrainian-Bavarian Working Commission was also discussed. Denis Monastyrsky informed the Ambassador about the elaboration with German colleagues of the draft Joint Declaration of Intent on intensifying cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the State Ministry of Internal Affairs of Bavaria, which is planned to be signed in the near future.

The Minister of Internal Affairs stressed that the Ukrainian side is interested in concluding an Agreement on mutual recognition and exchange of driver's licenses, which would be mutually beneficial for citizens of both states who choose another country as their place of permanent or temporary residence.

Denis Monastyrsky thanked the German side for the consistent and thorough support of the reform process in the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and expressed hope for further assistance from the German Government in the implementation of priority areas that are of particular interest to Ukraine.
