Yesterday, October 7, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky held a meeting with the Minister of State for European Affairs and International Relations of the Free State of Bavaria Melanie Guml. The parties discussed the prospects for the development of Ukrainian-Bavarian cooperation in the spheres of activity of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“The beginning of bilateral interdepartmental cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the State Ministry of Internal Affairs of Bavaria was established in April 1992 by the signing of the Joint Declaration of Cooperation. In the process of further promotion of reforms, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine actively enlists the support of international partners, adopting their useful experience and work practice,” the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the cooperation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine with the State Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Free State of Bavaria within the framework of the Permanent Ukrainian-Bavarian Working Commission. The Minister informed Ms. Guml that the departments have now completed the draft Joint Statement of Intent on Intensifying Cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the State Ministry of Internal Affairs of Bavaria.

“I am confident that the signing of the Joint Declaration will give additional impetus to the development of Ukrainian-Bavarian cooperation in the civil security sector,” the minister said.

They also discussed the current state of implementation of the measures provided for by the work program of the Permanent Ukrainian-Bavarian Commission. In addition to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the National Police of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine are also involved in the program.

Denis Monastyrsky stressed his interest in developing cooperation with Bavarian colleagues. This is especially true for the exchange of experience between expert forensic units, police cooperation and the development of the fire volunteer movement.
