Today, September 6, Minister of the Interior Denis Monastyrsky announced the key projects that will be implemented under his leadership. In particular, the expansion of the projects “Community Police Officer” and “Custody Records”, digitalization, barrier-free, public control of traffic violations, border arrangement, etc.

The “Community Police Officer” project is to provide each territorial community with an officer who lives and works on its territory.

“Custody Records” — protection and observance of the rights and freedoms of detained persons, video recording of all actions that take place with detainees in the police.

Barrier-free — adaptation of digital services, infrastructure facilities and structures for comfortable use by all groups of the population, namely people with disabilities.

Denis Monastyrsky noted that the priority of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is the arrangement of the state border.

“The development will require almost 4.5 thousand km of land border. Priority is given to areas with the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Moldova. Much attention is paid to the installation of modern video surveillance and information systems,” he said.

Another important, according to Denis Monastyrsky, the project concerns public control over violations of traffic rules: “Any public initiatives cannot do without the public. Only the combination of these two bases can lead to a real result. Public control over traffic violations will be a real breakthrough in the interaction of citizens and the police. Now this bill is in Parliament and provides for the possibility of a citizen to record traffic violations by other road users, transfer these records to the police. If we talk about prevention, then it is these approaches that can give us a breakthrough in this area,” the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.

The Minister of Internal Affairs also stressed the urgency of the development of the digitization of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“Already today we can say that the functionality of the “Driver's Cabinet” will be expanded, in particular, the possibility of online registration/re-registration of vehicles, exchange of driver's license online with the ability to receive it by mail,” the minister noted.

The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that it is planned to create an aviation security hub. The project defines a new approach to the elimination of emergencies and forest fires and includes the establishment of a Satellite Monitoring Situation Center. Thermal satellite images that make it possible to detect a forest fire at an early stage and extinguish 90% of fires by local forces without the involvement of equipment.

“We want to at least double the number of aircraft that work on fires - these are AN-32P aircraft. For this purpose, our Ukrainian capabilities will be used, aircraft will be converted into fire engines and in addition to the needs of Ukraine, we see the opportunity, including on a commercial basis, to help neighboring countries,” he said.

In addition, Denis Monastyrsky said that the project of voluntary fire brigades is planned to be expanded. “There are currently 1,200 local fire brigades and about 1,180 volunteer fire brigades. It is necessary to create another 1600. The project is relevant for rural areas, where according to statistics about 40 thousand fires occur every year,” he said.
