Denis Monastyrsky described practical steps of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the issue of increasing salaries for police officers
During a briefing with journalists, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky said that next year a small increase was provided for the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the state budget. However, these funds are not enough to increase the salaries of law enforcement officers. Therefore, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is developing new opportunities to increase monetary security.
“We consider it possible to increase revenues to the state budget due to unpaid excise taxes. The amount of budget losses reaches from 10 to 40 billion billion billion per year. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has taken the duty to raise revenues to the state budget, with this we will raise salaries for law enforcement officers,” the head of the law enforcement agency noted.
It is worth noting that the budget of Ukraine for 2022 provides for the redirection of revenues from the implementation of the plan for the collection of excise taxes on alcohol, tobacco and tobacco products produced in Ukraine and imported into the customs territory of the state, liquids used in electronic cigarettes to increase cash support for servicemen officers, ordinary and senior staff, police officers.
For reference, according to the Chairman of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Danylo Getmantsev, in November of this year, receipts to the budget from excise taxes on tobacco and alcohol products increased by 16 and 18.8%, respectively. According to these indicators alone, the state budget for the specified period received: for tobacco products - 696 million UAH and for alcohol - 188 million UAH.
Recall that from November 1, 2021, on the orders of the Minister of Internal Affairs Denis Monastyrsky, the operation “Excise” was launched. In the first month of the operation, it was possible to increase revenues to the state budget. This is, first of all, the result of the work of employees of the Department of Strategic Investigations and other responsible bodies, whose work is aimed at further effective counteraction to the shadow business.
