Today, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky presented the “For Courage in Service” badge to Colonel of Civil Protection Oleksandr Hvozdik. The rescuer who gave his oxygen mask to the child and saved her. “This is a real example of courage.

After all, sacrificing your life for the sake of others is the personification of courage. And there are such saviors in our country in every city, in every village. All their courageous actions should be noticed and appreciated by society and the leadership,” the head of the law enforcement agency said.

Recall, on November 22 at 11:03 to the Operational Coordination Center of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the city. Kyiv received a report of a fire on Peremohy Avenue, 67-A, in the Svyatoshinsky district of the capital.

Rescuers from the nearest fire and rescue units were immediately sent to the scene of the call. As it turned out, in a 16-story residential building, the electrical panels from the 5th to the 16th floors caught fire. Without wasting time, the firefighters immediately began evacuating the residents and extinguishing the fire.

At 11:59 the fighters localized the fire, and at 12:07 - eliminated. From the upper floors, as well as from the elevator, 31 people were evacuated, including 1 child.

At the scene of the fire, 11 units of the main and special fire and rescue equipment and 35 specialists of units of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine worked in the city. Kyiv.
