Day of the Savior: The President of Ukraine presented state awards to the employees of the State Emergency Service

Today, September 17, on the occasion of the Day of the Savior of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky presented state awards to employees of the State Emergency Service during the celebrations in the Mariinsky Palace. Awards were also received by the winners of the All-Ukrainian action “Rescuer Hero of the Year”.

The event was attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs Denis Monastyrsky, the head of the State Emergency Service Nikolai Chechotkin, the commander of the National Guard Mykola Balan, the head of the DMS Maxim Sokalyuk and the head of the National Police Igor Klymenko.

According to the President, the reliable shoulder of the employees of the State Emergency Service is felt both in Ukraine and abroad.

“During the fires in Greece and Turkey. And during the flood in Transcarpathia. Under the rubble of the mines of the Ukrainian Donbas. During the fire in the Chernobyl zone, fires in the Luhansk region. In the west of Ukraine, in Zhytomyr region and in Dnipro. In Israel, Montenegro, Poland and, of course, in Georgia,” Volodymyr Zelensky said.

The head of state stressed that firefighters, rescuers, sappers, pilots of rescue aircraft are real heroes of today who perform feats in real life, and not in Hollywood cinema.

Also, the Head of State presented the awards “Rescuer Hero of the Year”. They celebrate ordinary citizens who showed courage and heroism during the rescue of people, property, the elimination of fires, accidents, emergencies, natural disasters.

In particular, the winners of the award this year were:

- Medical nurse of Dobrobut Medical Center Olena Bendik, who saved the life of a man who fainted in the car of the Nizhyn-Kyiv train;

- entrepreneur Richard Gorda, who with the help of spinning pulled an 11-year-old boy to the shore, who on the ice led to the middle of the river;

- a student of the secondary school No. 3 of the city of Pervomaisk, Nikolaev region Maxim Motuz, who helped a first-grader who fell under the ice to get to the river bank;

- Tractor-machinist of an agricultural firm from the city of Gulyaypol, Zaporizhzhya region Sergey Tymoshenko, who saved two children aged one and five years during a fire in the house;

- Chief Inspector of the Emergency Prevention Department of the Cherkasy RU of the State Emergency Service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Cherkasy Region Irina Lysenko and the Head of the Smilyan Search and Rescue Group of the Municipal Diving and Rescue Service of the Cherkasy Regional Council Viktor Ternovtsov, who rescued the drowning woman la;

- Anna Stolyaruk, a student of the Mariupol Vocational Lyceum of Construction. The girl was rescued during a fire in the house of her six brothers and sisters before the arrival of fire and rescue units;

- Tatiana Tulaydan, a student of the 7th grade of Yasinian secondary school No. 1, grades I-III, Rakhiv district of the Transcarpathian region, who during the flood saved her 7-year-old brother and three neighboring children from the high water level, which at that time reached one meter;

- taxi driver from Kryvyi Rih Oleksandr Sokolov. He promptly took to the hospital a passenger who had a hypertensive crisis;

- Anesthesiologists of the Department of Intensive Care and Anesthesiology of the Ternopil Regional Children's Clinical Hospital Yuriy Holinka and Serhiy Tsisarsky, who during rest saved from death a three-year-old girl who drowned in the pool of the water park. The cardiopulmonary resuscitation they did lasted about ten minutes and was successful;

- a pensioner from the village of Dobryana, Novooda district of the Nikolaev region Lyudmila Simanenko, who saved three neighboring children during a fire while their parents were not at home.
