Community policing in action: in Mykolaiv region police officers launched chats to exchange information with the community
The Office of Preventive Activities has developed QR code flyers with which people can join chats in popular messengers created by community police officers.
These chats are intended to contribute to the creation of a safe environment in communities, and are launched in order to establish effective communication between police and citizens, timely exchange of information and receive online advice from law enforcement officers.
Currently, such a chat has been launched and is actively functioning in Oleksandrivska AHG, where local residents supported the initiative of the police and within a few days more than 200 participants joined the chat.
The philosophy of community policing involves increasing the level of trust between the police and the community, strengthening the social responsibility of the population, improving the quality of services provided by the police, openness and transparency in work.
Recall that the Oleksandrivska united territorial community was one of the first to join the implementation of the project “Community Police Officer” in the Mykolaiv region. In April last year, the corresponding memorandum of cooperation and partnership was signed, and already in the fall, two police officers of the community began to perform their functional duties. Immediately, representatives of the Alexandrovsk community equipped a police station for the police, respectively equipping it and providing it with office equipment.
Recently, the leadership of the police of the Nikolaev region together with the head of the territorial community handed police officers two brand new service cars, one of which was purchased at the expense of the community. The community also provides fuel for both service vehicles, in which police officers daily serve on the principle of “I am here”, are able to always be close to citizens, and even more promptly help local residents.
