On World Children's Day, Deputy Interior Minister Anton Gerashchenko said that the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police are making every effort to tell children about the need to comply with the rules of the road. However, in this matter there must be a systematic work of the central authorities and local self-government bodies.

Anton Gerashchenko said that at the moment the Ministry of Internal Affairs expects the adoption of a law that will oblige pedestrians, including children, to use reflective elements on clothes in the dark.

“In European countries, there are laws that establish responsibility for citizens who walk at dusk outside settlements without identification signs. In June, we expect the adoption of law No. 2694 in Ukraine on the introduction of liability in the form of a fine for non-use of reflective tape by pedestrians in the dark outside the settlements,” he said.

First Deputy Chief of the Patrol Police Department Oleksiy Biloshitsky said that the formation of the correct concept regarding behavior on the road should begin from a young age.

“In the National Police there is a project “School Police Officer”, it covers 36 cities. These are more than 200 law enforcement officers, who were trained specifically to work with children. Over 4 years of work, more than 600 thousand classes were conducted and hundreds of thousands of children were covered. Malecha became friends with the officers and adopts the experience transmitted by school police officers,” said Alexey Beloshitsky.

Recall that today, June 1, marked the year of operation of the system of automatic photo and video fixation of violations of traffic rules.
