Security situation in Odessa is calm at the moment - Serhiy Yarovyi
The First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs said that Kulikovo Field and Cathedral Square are under the protection of law enforcement officers. The specified area is checked by explosives. Filtration points are installed on Kulikovo Field and traffic around is limited. Serhiy Yarovyi stressed that law enforcement officers work not only in places of mass gathering of people, but also on all streets of the city.
“2600 law enforcement officers are on duty at all locations where mass events take place. The forces and means involved are coordinated to respond promptly to any changes. I want to note that there were no serious violations both in Odesa region and in Ukraine as a whole,” the First Deputy Minister noted.
Serhiy Yarovyi also noted that the whole complex of preventive actions was carried out in order to prevent violations of public order and ensure the safety of people during the events on the occasion of commemoration of the dead on May 2, 2014, which began in the central part of Odessa.
