Baggage of persons crossing the demarcation line will be checked by X-ray scanner
X-ray and television systems are installed at the entry-exit checkpoint “Stanytsia Luhanska”. They will provide border guards with the opportunity to increase security and speed of control procedures. The use of X-ray scanners will create more comfortable conditions for persons crossing the line of demarcation.
X-ray and television systems were installed by employees of the state-owned enterprise “Reintegration and Recovery” with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the European Union within the framework of the United Nations Recovery and Peacebuilding Program. These new generation devices for checking luggage and small loads. They are equipped with X-ray generators, detector modules, mechanical and conveyor structures, as well as a computer platform, with special keyboard, monitors and user-friendly user interface. Optionally, the scanners can be equipped with an auxiliary program for semi-automatic detection of explosive and narcotic substances, which is an urgent issue for preventing movement across the line of demarcation of weapons, drugs and other substances.
Today, border guards serving at the checkpoint “Stanytsya Luhanska” have begun training. Within three days, representatives of SE “Reintegration and Recovery” together with representatives of the supplier company LLC “NK SYSTEMS” will teach the soldiers of the Luhansk border detachment with the help of X-ray and television systems to inspect luggage moving persons across the demarcation line.

It is worth noting that “Stanytsia Luhanska” is the only checkpoint through which, in fact, daily passes of people are carried out. In total, almost 580 thousand people followed through the checkpoint “Stanytsia Luhanska” for 10 months of this year. During this time, border guards stopped 161 attempts of prohibited items to move across the demarcation line.
