Arsen Avakov: Seven years ago Major General Sergey Kulchitsky died. Remembering

Seven years ago in Slavyansk, the godfather of the first volunteer battalion of the National Guard, died in Slavyansk in a helicopter with 11 militiamen and guards. The first Hero of Ukraine in this war, a combat officer. We remember,” said the Minister of Internal Affairs.
Recall that on May 29, 2014, after taking off from Mount Karachun, Russian fighters of the Girkin detachment shot down a helicopter, in which 12 of our defense soldiers died along with General Sergey Kulchytsky. One of the crew members, navigator Alexander Makeenko miraculously survived.
Serhiy Kulchytskyi was one of those who created a volunteer movement in NGU. In particular, the first reserve battalion, from which the formation of all volunteer guard units began. After the death of Kulchitsky, he began to bear his name.
Helicopter pilot Alexander Makeenko, who was the only one who managed to survive, recalls that Sergey Kulchytsky always flew to his subordinates to support the morale of the fighters and personally receive information.
“It was May 29, 2014, we fulfilled the task as intended - delivery of products, water and rotation of personnel. We drew up the route of the flight, flew to Mount Karachun, carried out a rotation of personnel there, carried out a flight to the fifth checkpoint, and after takeoff there was an explosion, the helicopter lost control and a disaster occurred, in which 12 of our servicemen died. It is with sadness that I express my condolences to the relatives of the dead. They fulfilled their military and civic duty,” Alexander Makeenko said.
On that unfortunate day, the following were killed: Major General Serhiy Kulchitsky, Head of the Combat and Special Training Department of the Main Directorate of the National Guard of Ukraine; Colonel Buldovich, Deputy Commander of the Brigade 2269 of the NGU; Major Kurilovich, Head of the Combat Training Group of Unit 3324 of the NGU; Captain Kravchenko, senior flight technician instructor of the squadron.; Ensign Beloshkursky, instructor of machine gun platoons of fire support; Ensign Lipsky, instructor of machine gun platoons of fire support; senior lieutenant of militia Bezpalko, deputy platoon commander; senior Lieutenant of the militia Semaniuk, inspector on duty; senior ensign of the Sharaburyak militia, commander of the department; ensign of the militia Lysenchuk; police sergeant Ostapyuk; senior sergeant of militia Yakovyak.
