Arsen Avakov held a meeting with the parliamentary delegation of the French Republic
Today, July 8, the Chairman of the Joint Ukrainian-French Commission on Economic Cooperation, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov held a meeting with the parliamentary delegation of France headed by the deputy of the National Assembly Valeria For-Muntian.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Ukraine Etienne de Ponsen, Member of the Senate of France Nadezhda Sologub and People's Deputies of Ukraine, who are part of the economic cooperation group with the French Republic.
Arsen Avakov noted that joint projects with France are the most dynamic. “We managed to organize a good team, find mechanisms for interaction and establish work with the Ukrainian parliament. Thus, the constitutional majority ratified agreements on the renewal of the fleet of freight electric locomotives of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”; the joint production of high-altitude specialized equipment for rescuers; the modernization of the high-quality water supply system in Luhansk region, as well as the construction of an effective water supply system in Kiev. Currently, the possibility of modernizing the water supply system in the city of Kharkiv is also being discussed with the French side,” the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.
The Minister also recalled the first Ukrainian-French projects that are already being actively implemented between the two countries. In particular, we are talking about contracts with OCEA and Airbus Helicopters.
Recall that all contracts provide for mandatory localization of production in Ukraine at domestic enterprises at the level of up to 30%. This will provide additional jobs and revenue to the state budget.
According to Arsen Avakov, active negotiations are currently underway with Airbus on another large-scale project — the creation of a national air carrier. “This idea belongs to the President of Ukraine. In September, we have to reach specific contours, now our specialists deal with technical issues and carry out relevant calculations,” he said.
“We have heard a lot about you, about your efficiency and vigilance at work. You managed to find a common language with the Minister of Economy, Finance and Reconstruction of the French Republic, Bruno le Meer, to create effective teams. And it is necessary that this cooperation lasts as long as possible,” said Valeria For-Muntian, deputy of the French National Assembly and head of the delegation. She also thanked the Ukrainian side for its efforts in implementing strategically important joint projects and expressed words of support to the state of Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression. “Of course, French parliamentarians fully support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. Cooperation between our countries is just the beginning, because there are many things we can do together, for example in construction, industry, agriculture, cybersecurity and IT.”
At the same time, another representative of the French side, member of the French Senate Nadezhda Sologub, added that Senate President Gerard Larchet highly appreciates the cooperation between the two countries.
“Mr. Larche asked to assure you that he is following very closely the work that is being done between Ukraine and France, the work of our friendship group and, in general, the relations between France and Ukraine, which are extremely important. We sincerely thank you for your personal efforts, the personal energy that you and your employees put into implementing those projects that are strategic for both of our countries.”
