Today, June 15, the Minister of Internal Affairs visited with a working trip the Center of Aviation Support of the National Police, based on the helicopter “Kanev Helicopter Site”. On the territory of 8.6 hectares, two additional hangars for the aviation of the National Police of Ukraine have been purchased and built, and a hotel complex for the needs of aviation personnel will soon be built.

“Today we are at the base of aviation support of the National Police, where specialized helicopters are located for the needs of the police and sanitary aviation. There is also a helicopter group of border guards, guards and rescuers. If necessary, they all work according to a special algorithm and help each other. It is this site that will serve the Cherkasy and Kiev regions,” Arsen Avakov said.

According to the Minister of the Interior, for 1.5 years, the boards throughout the country will be placed on duty in such a way as to provide transportation of patients, transplantology, emergencies, military and police needs. “We will deploy helicopters around the country so that the helicopter group of the aviation security system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs interacts to help people across the country from medical issues to emergencies,” Arsen Avakov said.

Deputy Interior Minister Sergey Goncharov added that 26 French Airbus helicopters are planned to be delivered by the end of 2021. In particular, 8 - H145 of the latest modification for the needs of the National Police; 7 - H125 for the State Border Guard Service and 11 - N225 for the State Emergency Service and the National Guard.

In turn, the head of the National Police Igor Klymenko noted that some of the helicopters will be used to rescue people, while the other - to conduct special operations.

“Over the year, we have built a center that will fully ensure the functioning of the aviation of the National Police, which is part of the Unified System of Aviation Security and Civil Protection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Our helicopters will be involved in rescuing people and conducting special operations. The helicopter travels at a speed of 225 km/h, which is four times faster than a car. Now the police have become even more mobile and fast,” Igor Klymenko stressed.

The head of the Department of Aviation and Police on the Water Serhiy Naumenko said that for the proper functioning of the Unified System of Aviation Security and Civil Protection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the National Police, the State Institution “Aviation Support Center of the National Police of Ukraine” was created, the positions of aviation personnel were introduced and the permanent staff of the institution was approved.

“Within the framework of the development of the Unified System of Aviation Security and Civil Protection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in 2020, the National Police of Ukraine received two Airbus H145 helicopters, which were cleared for customs clearance, passed the appropriate certification, registered in the prescribed manner and received permits for flights,” said Serhiy Naumenko.

According to him, training and retraining of aviation personnel are carried out according to the schedule. To date, 30 technicians have successfully retrained at the Airbus Helicopters Deutschland Flight Academy, of which 3 received instructor certificates, 12 pilots and 4 engineers from the National Police. At the same time, the technical staff passed the exams and received the relevant certificates (the first from the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine). At the same time, 4 pilots are undergoing training, and another 4 will undergo retraining in August this year.

Since March 2018, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched a new project - the Aviation Protection and Security System. As part of the construction of the System, it is planned to use both existing aircraft (An aircraft and helicopters Mi-2, Mi-8, EC-145) and H-125, H-145 and H-225 helicopters purchased under the contract with Airbus Helicopters.

Already in March 2021, on the initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Health, the Unified Aeromedical Space was created, which provides for the introduction of an aeromedical evacuation system and air transportation of anatomical materials of recipients. Since April 1, in the Lviv region (these are 7 regions: Lviv, Zakarpatska, Ivano-Frankivsk, Volyn, Rivne, Ternopil and Chernivtsi) the aviation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has been on permanent duty. Since May 1, the same rotation has been introduced in the Kiev region (covers Kiev, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv regions and the city of Kiev). Currently, Cherkassy and the east of the country will join the Unified Aeromedical Space. It is planned that by the fall such points will work throughout the country. In addition to the flight staff, medics will be constantly on duty at the base points. Helicopters and aircraft of the Air Safety System of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be operated by young pilots who have already passed or are currently undergoing appropriate training.

Only in the first months of operation of the Unified Aeromedical Space managed to save 7 citizens who needed urgent medical care, as well as deliver an organ for transplantation in time for a little boy who needed urgent surgery.
