As of now, 92 complexes of photo-video recording of traffic violations have already been installed, by June 1 there will be 130, and by the end of the year - about 400 are planned. Each such camera allows you to reduce the number of accidents by three times.

This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko today, May 13, at the All-Ukrainian Forum “Ukraine 30. The security of the country.”

He spoke about plans to use in the future a model based on the example of the Swedish “vision zero”, which aims to reduce road deaths to zero. The Swedes investigated that most violations are committed because citizens tend to break the rules. And in order to avoid systematic violations of traffic rules, there must be control.

“We plan to implement 4 approaches at once: installation of three types of photo-video recording cameras, strengthening the legislative framework, improving the road infrastructure and the system of statistics on accidents,” Anton Gerashchenko noted.

In addition, the Deputy Minister said that currently the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the Ministry of Infrastructure, are developing an interactive map of Ukraine, where all accidents and statistics on all cases will be marked. In this way, local authorities will be able to respond to such messages and organize safe movement.

Also, Anton Gerashchenko added that currently the people's deputies are developing a new draft law that will allow the use of a mobile phone as a factor for fixing violations of road accidents.

“We studied the world experience where every phone in the car, if properly installed, records traffic violations. It is enough for the driver to click on the screen and the police will receive information about the violation. If we manage to implement all the planned projects, then the safety on the roads of Ukraine will be like in Sweden,” he said.
