Andriy Kryshchenko: “Police released a Kyiv man who was held captive for three years”
In this way, the attackers wanted to appropriate his apartment. For illegal imprisonment and fraudulent activities, detainees face up to twelve years in prison.
Employees of the Shevchenko Police Department, with the assistance of the employees of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in Zaporizhia and Mykolaiv regions and under the procedural guidance of the Shevchenko District Prosecutor's Office of the city of Kiev, detained a group of intruders: in order to seize an apartment in the capital, they illegally deprived them of liberty Kievan.
According to the chief of police of Kyiv Andriy Kryshchenko, the victim was on the lists of missing persons since 2017:
“We received prompt information about the whereabouts of the wanted man in Nikolaev. During the investigation, the attackers found a 52-year-old victim, as well as a 49-year-old Kiev resident, who was probably also forcibly kept in the house. Three offenders were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. These are natives of Mykolaiv region and Zaporizhzhia 1958, 1974, 1969 years of birth”.
The defendants were taken to the Shevchenko Department of the Metropolitan Police for investigative actions and the roles of each were established. Investigators are currently preparing a statement of suspicion for them.
Investigators of the district police department are investigating criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Art. 146 (Unlawful Imprisonment or Abduction of a Person) and Part 4 of Art. 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Attackers face up to twelve years in prison with confiscation of property.
“In the course of urgent investigative actions, another citizen contacted us, who reported that these same people fraudulently took over her apartment, and the woman herself was placed in a private house in one of the villages of the Nikolaev area. We are currently checking the involvement of the criminal group in this fraudulent scheme and in similar crimes on the territory of Ukraine,” added the head of the capital's head.
